Our friends at the American Rights at Work Education Fund have released a new report called "Beyond the Weekend," which details how unions benefit communities, consumers, employers, and employees. The major finding of this report is that when workers unite collectively, the benefits reach far above and beyond what is commonly perceived.
In real terms, this means that when teachers and administrators join together in a union, they communicate and collaborate effectively – and that boosts student achievement. This means that health care workers who work well with hospital administrators are more adept at innovating solutions that will improve care and control costs. This means that when workers band together as a team we don’t just help ourselves, we help our communities.
